The Girls

Welcome to the Scrapbags Blog

We are a very friendly group of scrappers who meet each month in Hertford. We chat, scrap, share ideas and techniques and generally have a great crop which usually flies by far too quickly.

We love to meet fellow scrappers so please feel free to stop by and meet us (dates & location to the right), or if you'd like more details please drop me a line at scrapbags@ntlworld.com.

Autumn came to Hertford Heath

And leaves fell all around for our October class kit.

We were diecutting, embossing and alcohol inking metal to make these rustic leaves and painting and spritzing with metallic glimmer mists to make different back grounds.

November Crop (20th) is filling up fast and I'll post a photo pf the kit LO later this weekend.   Also keep an eye on the right hand pane as I'll be posting 2011 dates very soon.

Happy Scrapping!

How long would be long enough?

Last weekend Scrapbags descended on All Saints for our 3rd Autumn retreat and this time we had three - yes THREE - whole days of scrapping.  And it still was not long enough!!!!!!

Here's the Cream of the Crop on Sunday morning taking a very brief break.

Although we didn't have a shop at the retreat I did manage to produce four classes:

Friday Freebie

Roses are Red

Vintage Frame

2 Way Kit

I am so cross with myself for not taking photos of everyone's ready steady srap challenge LOs, but I simply ran out of time.  Maybe we really do need four days next time after all.

Just a quickie

As Blogger is playing silly bloggers tonight, and as I'm losing patience this'll be a quickie just to show you our September Class Kit which used the gorgeous Pink Paislee Queen Bee range.  What the girls thought would be a quick page took rather longer than anticipated as folding the rosettes took quite a long time.  Tee Hee!

Wow......

......Two posts in two days!!!!!!

Just a quick update with class kit details for Saturday's crop.  Here's the Lo and as you can see it's quick & easy so remember to bring along plenty of projects to keep you going

That's my nearest & dearest at Tamarin just two weeks ago- sigh!

I have some very exciting news to share.  Inspire Crafts will be bringing their shop to our crop on 21st August, and will be demontrating their new products.  They will only be attending for the morning though, so please feel free to stop by to have a coffee and a chat , and watch the demo.  You will be very welcome.

In the meantime have a great week - let's hope the sun shines for us.

One day.......

....... I'll find time to keep this blog up to date.  I wish I could say I spend too much time scrapping, but in reality I only spend too much time THINKING about scrapping.

Since arriving home from Paradise with a huge BUMP, I've been busy preparing for our August crops.  The Super Summer Special Extra crop was on THursday and we had a fabulous Bo Bunny Flower Child kit to play with.  It was a pity I didn't actually manage a kit LO in time for the crop, but then again I got the chance to see what everyone else designed.  The layouts were beautiful and I'm sitting here kicking myself for not taking my camera.

Here's what I managed with mine:

Yes the holday photos arrived from Photobox yesterday so I'm pretty sure that Mauritius will be featuring heavily in the upcoming Scrapbags Class Kit Layouts.

Our next crop is on 21st August and we'll be having a lovely blue & green kit, (yes- you guessed it -  the colours of Mauritius).  I'll upload photos just a soon as its finished so you know what photos to bring along.

I have a few spaces so if you'd like to come along just drop me a line at scrapbags@ntlworld.com

Time Flies............

........ and doesn't it just!!

Today was our Scrapbags Summer Mega 12 hour crop, and we had a super lovely day.... but..... it was, as always, way too short.

We had a quick and easy layout for our class kit

Yes, that is my other half looking young, but not so innocent - at least it's given Joe a rest from having embarrassing photos of his early years bandied about - for now.

No matter how long the crop, time flies by far too quickly, and after homemade cream cakes for pud at lunch time, lots of chat and laughter, a yummy dinner (delicious quiche courtesy of Diane) and a little scrapping, hometime comes round far too soon.

Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I was unable to get any pics of the Scrapbags in action, or of our creations.  However, our next crop is on the 17th July, which I'm sure will be here before we know it, so watch this space for a preview of the class kit, and do drop me a line if you'd like to come & join in the fun. scrapbags@ntlworld.com

In the meantime,

Long time no see

Well I think we've all recovered from our Spring Retreat.  Quite a few were still able to attend our March Crop where we had fun cutting out the lovely Crate Paper Cottage range to make this rather elegant LO.

Yes - that's the Three Amigos looking rather stuffed & more than a little squiffy after a scrumptious dinner in Harrogate during our Great Snow Adventure in January

And here's where we got rather stuffed and squiffy:

Our next crop is on Saturday and we have a fantastic, very masculine LO designed by our very own
Sara Young
Sara has used one 6x4 portrait photo and as you can see the page works very well with heritage photos.  The papers are from the Tinkering Ink Haberdashery range.

I'm really looking forward to doing this LO on Saturday.  Thanks, Sara.

Well, I need to do now is decide which cakes we'll be having and start the baking...............

Sunday, 7 March 2010

Wow - what a weekend!!!  After months of planning, days of anticipation and some considerable time packing the Fourth Scrapbags Retreat has come and gone in a flash and I'm sitting here surrounded by bags, too tired to do anything about unpacking.

What happened?  Chatting, shopping, eating, LOTS of laughing, and a fair bit of scrapping.  We had our obligatory group photo and you'll see that the only thing wonky here is everyone's perception. We had three fabulous classes from Scrap Revolution, I finished my 2009 album, Alison FINALLY finished her Peru project, Bethan nearly completed her A-Z, and Mary actually brought photos!  The Readly Steady Scrap Challenge produced some wonderful layouts and was won by Sheila. Surprise surprise!!! (See the Ladies who Scrap LO at the top of the sidebar).

In the blink of an eye everyone had driven back down the drive and Diane & I were sitting in the car with my bags piled high outside the front doors waiting for Rob.

Here are a few images of the weekend:

Spectacular sunset

An outsider's view

Back a little bit more

Is that a smile?

Peek-a-boo!

Cutting out - of course

Hmmmm....... which one shall I use?

Long time no post.....again!

Well, half term has come & gone in a flash and I haven't acheived half of what I had hoped.  I am however all ready for our crop tomorrow.  Class kit is done and cakes are baked - Apricot Almond & Honey Cake and Chocolate Cherry Brandy Cupcakes - they're looking good if I do say so myself.

I've also caught up on arrangements for our retreat which is LESS THAN 14 DAYS NOW!!!!!!!!!!  I popped over to All Saints this afternoon to check on arrangements and have packed up the Ready Steady Scrap Kits.  Here's a peek at the yummy Dream Street Pompeii papers

I look forward to uploading everyone's layouts - I'm always fascinated to see many different pages resulting from the same limited materials.

Happy New Year

I may be a little late in wishing everyone a Happy New Year, but I am announcing the January crop class details a little early. This is because next weekend I'm off to Harrogate for the Art From The Heart Fabby Dabby Weekend. I'm so excited and counting down the days until we meet up at Kings Cross.

Our first crop of 2010 is on Saturday 16th January and there's still time to book - just drop me a line at scrapbags@ntlworld.com.

Here's a peek of the kit - it is red and cream/beige with gold & has a Christmas theme - perfect for starting you on scrapping those recent snaps. It's also perfect for heritage photos.

This month we'll be using punches to create flowers so if you have the Woodware orange & green birch leaf punches please bring these along with you as it'll save time waiting for mine to come along. Also if you have a favourite border punch please bring it along with pricking tool, pricking / mouse mat, gold ink pad and wet glue such as PVA or Glossy Accents.

See you all very soon.
