Welcome to the Scrapbags Blog

We are a very friendly group of scrappers who meet each month in Hertford. We chat, scrap, share ideas and techniques and generally have a great crop which usually flies by far too quickly.

We love to meet fellow scrappers so please feel free to stop by and meet us (dates & location to the right), or if you'd like more details please drop me a line at scrapbags@ntlworld.com.

Here's a peek at the second class layout

If you have a look around the blog you may find a clue to help you select your photos for the class kit.

Happy Scrapping
It's been a while since I loast posted, but have been busy preparing for & then having a whale of a time at the Scrap Revolution Winter Retreat. After a weekend of pure scrapping heaven, I'm now home and getting back into routine.

Fortunately we have the Scrapbags Christmas Mega 12 hour Crop to look forward to on 12th December. It runs from 10am to 10pm at Hertford Heath Village hall and we have just one place left (or possibly two if you don't mind sharing with a friend) so if you'd like to give us a go please drop me a line (scrapbags@ntlworld.com).

I'll be baking for our lunch-time cakes and providing yummy Real Cornish Pasties for supper, and Chris will be bringing along some her delicious creations for pudding.

Also, we'll be running a Secret Santa for those who want to join in - just bring along a wrapped scrapping related gift to teh value of £5, and you'll receive one in return.

As it's a bumper crop we'll be having a bumper class kit which includes all you need to create a DOUBLE layout. Here's a sneak peek of page one.

You'll need 3 6x4 landscape photos, your best cutting out scissors and a sewing needle (Bazzill In Stitches needles will be too thick) and if you have Crystal Stickles it may save you waiting for mine to go around.

Well, it's been a long time since my last post, but over the summer I've been busy busy busy with family holidays, entertaining the children and preparing for the new term.

And then the main event of the summer - the Scrapbags September 2009 Retreat. We had 2 1/2 days of pure uninterrupted scrapping, broken only by the need to eat and sleep. Lorraine brought her Scrap Revolution shop along and taught us three classes incorporating a number of techniques.

We had our usual Ready Steady Scrap Challenge using the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket Gretel paper range, of which Sheila, Aisling and Chris were joint winners. You can see the winners amongst all of the entries in the slideshow above right.

Before we knew it we were heading back down the drive, homeward bound, but are all looking forward to March 2010 when we will be returning for our spring event.

So Lovely

Well, we absolutely packed out Hertford Heath Village Hall last Saturday with our May crop, and most of us completed both classes. Here's my version of Lorraine's Wisteria Class - isn't it gorgeous? Thanks to Lorraine's demonstration of techniques using Spellbinders I am now totally hooked and am busy deciding which set to invest in first.

Lorraine is hoping to come to our June Mega 12 Hour Crop too, bringing her shop & maybe another class so if you haven't yet booked please email me ASAP as we're filling up fast and I have just a few spaces left.

Check back soon for June's class kit details - due to demand I've had to source extra supplies so have a choice of colourways for you.

I'm following up a lead for a Friday evening venue so watch this space for breaking news.

Better late than never

Well, I'm finally recovering from a fabulous weekend at the Scrap Revolution Retreat, and was reminded this morning that I'm being a bit slack at updating our blog.

I have a couple of pieces of good news about this month's crop. Firstly is that our class kit has been designed by the very talented Aisling Smith using Basic Grey's Scarlett Letter paper to produce a stunning vinatge layout just perfect for your heritage photos. Here's a peek at the class supplies.

Secondly not only will Lorraine be bringing the Scrap Revolution Shop for us to browse (and stroke and drool over), but she will also be offering an extra class. In this class, the muted shades of lilac and green from My Mind’s Eye papers are fused beautifully to make for a gorgeous layout. And we will indulge further in a touch of shimmer and pearls. Get ready to play with Bazzill Bling blossoms and bling carstock and discover the truly magical things you can do with Spellbinders dies in this class.

Please feel free to stop by to have a look at the shop, collect an order or simply for a coffee and a chat.

Happy Scrapping!

4 days to go.....

............to our April crop and I still have a few places left if you'd like to come along and join us. As a reward for doing all that cutting out last month (or not if you were one of the slackers who availed themselves of Diane's services), we have a very quick and easy class kit this month so you'll be able to do the layout and still have lots of time for your own projects.

See you on Saturday

Wow What a Wonderful Weekend

Scrapbags descended on London Colney for our second retreat last weekend and we had a wonderful time. Thank you to every one who joined us at the retreat and thank you also to Lorraine for teaching us three fabulous classes as well as bringing her shop along.

Thank you also to everyone who joined in our Mystery Kit challenge and well done to Aisling, our winner. You can see all the layouts below, and I've added other photos of the weekend to the slide show at the right of the page. If anyone would like to add their photos please email them to me and I will upload them. If any Scrapbags would like to downlad or print any of the photos please feel free.

Remember not to feel too glum - we have our next retreat to look forward to in September. I'll be sending out the details and booking forms later this week, but in the mean time we have our next crop on the 18th April (I'll upload class kit details soon), and on 20th June we will have our 12 hour crop to look forward to, so please check back here for details.

See you all very soon.

March Class Kit

Here's a peek at next week's class kit. We'll be using papers from the Dream Street Mairzy Doats collection and you'll be needing your scissors for some serious cutting out. I've used one 7"x5" landscape photo, but the size is flexible and you could use 2 smaller portrait photos.

Please drop me a line if you'd like to come along and haven't yet booked (scrapbags@ntlworld.com).

See you all soon.

Oops!

Well I promised to upload all of the Scrapbags' February class layouts, but as the sugar coating took soooooooo long to dry, I didn't get any photos of completed LOs on the day.

Here's Jan's page which she completed on Sunday at the Scrap Revolution Crop (better late than never!).
I've been so busy organising our Spring Retreat that I'd quite neglected our March Crop which is fast approaching. We still have quite a few places available so please drop me a line if you'd like to book, or for more info. I haven't quite decided on our March class kit, and will be uploading a preview over the next few days.
I'll also be sending out class previews and booking forms for the Spring Retreat so be sure to check your inboxes over the coming week.

Two Days To Go....

...to our February crop. I have just one space left so please drop me a line if you'd like to join us. We'll be working with Doodlebug Sugar Coating on Urban Lily's California Poppy patterned paper. The layout is ideal for vintage photos and is a classic valentine colour. I'll try to upload pics of what all the Scrapbags do with their kits so do check back. Happy Scrappping!

Brrrrrrrrr

Well it has certainly been a frosty February so far and I haven't been able to get out and about to look for a new Friday evening venue yet. if anyone does have any ideas please drop me a line so I can follow up.

On the Saturday crop front, I have managed to change the date of our May crop. We are at the Scrap Revolution retreat in Barley on the 16th May, so I have moved Scrapbags to 23rd May. Please ammend your diaries and I shall reprint the magnet inserts for you ready for our next crop.

Also, I am pleased to announce that our June crop will now be a 12 hour mega crop. I shall be finalising details in due course, but please keep the date free.

That's all for now - I'll be posting class kit details for our February crop in the next few days.

Scrappy New Year

Well Twelth Night has passed and Christmas is well and truly packed away for another year. Hopefully all the left overs have been finished and the photos are being printed ready for Scrapbags 2009 crops. Our first is on this Friday at Kingsmead Pre-school and on Saturday 17th we'll be holding our first full day crop of 2009 at Hertford Heath Village Hall. Diane has designed a gorgeous Christmas layout for our January class kit using Bazill Heather and Wisteria shades. The LO is very versatile as you can use portrait or landscape photos and it can be adapted for snow photos. The colours work well with black and white photos if you don't have any to tone with the page.
If you'd like to book for either crop please drop me a line scrapbags@ntlworld.com.

See you all very soon
